My Story

I offer a friendly, reliable and efficient Chimney Sweeping Service across a broad area, mainly servicing The Test Valley area of Hampshire and surrounding areas.

From an apprenticeship as a fitter in the electricity supply business many years ago, moving onto an office based project management role in later years, I continue to enjoy mechanical engineering but not so much sitting at a desk! I found myself inspired to take up chimney sweeping and completed my initial training at the National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) training centre earlier this year. I went on to successfully complete final assessment with a NACS Area Inspector and am now a full member of NACS.

Since completing the initial training I have now completed additional training that allows me to undertake camera inspections and surveys of chimneys as well as successfully completing the HETAS stove installers course  (weblink - ).  This provides a great breadth and depth of knowledge that enables me to do my very best to provide a great service and keep my  customers safe

The Best of both Worlds

I love the fact that I get to use my mechanical engineering know how from time to time, that I have escaped from the desk and that I contribute to the safety of my community and beyond. Living in a Test Valley village myself I have a particular sympathy and personal experience for thatched property chimneys and related insurance requirements. Although I clean all types of chimney I specialise in those on thatched property.

Promoting Safer Chimneys

90% of Thatch fires are chimney related.

Thatch is no more likely to catch fire than other properties but it is harder to put out and makes way more mess if it does! Thatch Fire prevention is always the best course of action. You should assess your individual property and its risks and then make an informed choice on how you reduce those risks. If your property has an open fire or a log burner then it is essential and good sense to keep the chimney or chimneys clean.

A certificate confirming the date of sweeping is required for insurance purposes should you need to make a claim. Hampshire County Council - Thatch. | Fire Saftey
